Fishédex
Hello there! Welcome to the world of species hunting! This device contains over 36,000 species of fish - that's almost every species of fish on the planet! Here you can log every species you have caught, whether that be from shore; boat; kayak; snorkelling; or ice fishing.
You have three tabs: CATCHES which shows you all the fish you have recorded; a REGION MAP that displays the pins of where you caught each species; and an entire database of species you've NOT CAUGHT. Each tab has their own respective filters and pages where you can cycle through to find the fish you're looking for.
You can send friend requests via friend codes; and they can accept by opening the FRIENDS button after you've sent a request. In your friend's list, click the VIEW CATCHES button to see their own Fishédex and track their progress.
If there's a species you can't find, try using its scientific name. Many species have multiple common names, and this device only records one common name per species.
- Not Caught species now display CC BY-NC, CC BY, and CC0 licensed images from FishBase and iNaturalist, which you can expand and view full size.
- Mini game stats moved to the Milestones tab.
- Least number of mini game moves tracked to work towards personal bests.
- Replay friend’s fights and compare fight stats with friends.
- Filter Not Caught species by the first letter of their common or scientific name.
- Created a skippable fishing mini game for when you add catches. It only applies to shore, boat, and ice fishing catches.
- Added a music track to the fishing mini game, called 'Cry of the Painted goby'.
- Difficulty modes added to the mini game. Micro-fish are easy (26,394 species); fish to 30 pounds are normal (9,403); 30 - 100lb are hard (567); and species which reach over 100lb are very hard (399). Where weight data was not available, difficulty is calculated by length instead. If neither are available, the species is put into normal difficulty.
- Shop added to buy rods and bait which provide bonuses to help with the mini game.
- Unlocking milestones and landing fish in the mini game provides currency to spend in the shop.
- The mini game can be replayed on already logged species by opening their pin.
- Added 25 more milestones to unlock.
- Added 79 milestones to unlock.
- A community progress tracker has been added.
- Added a stats and an editable yearly species tally button.
- Users can wishlist not caught species they want to catch.
- Changed adding users by email to a friend code instead.

- Two images can be uploaded per species, to delineate sexual dimorphism. They will cycle every 6 seconds on the species cards.
- You can delete uploaded images without deleting the catch or uploading a replacement image.
- Milestone badges replace the species number on the cards.
- Increased width of the water type ratio bars, and text balanced to match.
- Added common names to 3,853 species.
- 15 species changed to freshwater from euryhaline.

- 33 species now have more recognisable common names.
- When picking a species which may share the same or similar common name as another species, you are shown the other species as well.
- Existing images, and new images have been compressed to approx. 30kb to increase app speed, and lower download cost.
- Fixed bug where after creating an account, the user gets an error 'Permission denied for table catches' if they try to upload a catch by re-logging in.
- Fixed bug where when opening a friend's catches, the country filters are auto switched off.
- Added the ability to change a species after already selecting one.
- Redesigned map pins to have a colour border which corresponds to the fish's water type, when the pin is selected.
- Animated the expand/collapse arrow on the pin's note box.
- Added an ellipsis at the end of the pin's note text, to indicate there is more text.
- Repositioned the red new catch dot on the pins.
- The water type buttons on the catch cards in mobile are shortened to say SALT, FRESH, EURY, so the words don't break into two lines.
- In mobile, added on start up is a prompt arrow to use fullscreen mode, which vanishes after 10 seconds, unless clicked.
- If you are forced out of fullscreen mode when browsing for an image to upload, a return to fullscreen button appears on the screen.
- 3 new user tips are added below the casing, which cycle every 6 seconds.
New species caught in the selected year appear automatically, and you can add other previously caught species to your tally. Can't see the species you're looking for? Log your first catch of that species to the Fishédex first.
